"COURAGE is not the absence of FEAR, but rather the JUDGEMENT, that something else is more important, than FEAR." - The Princess Diaries
Over the years that I have watched the movie "The Princess Diaries", and have heard this quote a couple of times, it was only until recently that I was able to fully grasp the true meaning behind these words. I never thought how valuable this line would mean to me when I was finally able to understand it, until I have come to a certain point where I have to do something I am counted responsible for, and this time, FEAR is not an option.
I have always thought that fear is inevitable. Experiencing fear, Means that we are aware of our own weaknesses. And through those kinds of weaknesses we have given ourselves a wonderful opportunity to make a choice-that is, to accept fear and be afraid, or face it upfront and be courageous. But what does it take to have courage? What does it take for a man to be BRAVE?
True COURAGE, is not about having no fears. Like I said, fear is inevitable. Having fear only shows that we are still human. But true courage comes out when someone realizes that fear is the only thing that blocks you away from accomplishing something, from doing something that is more important than being afraid. To be courageous, means to FACE a RESPONSIBILITY no matter how terrified you are. It is doing what is right, no matter how much temptation entices you to do wrong. It is to go against the flow of the crowd, and believing and standing firm in your decision.
Courage from a person does not come out that easily. It's okay to take things step-by-step. Do not be disappointed at yourself just because you feel afraid, or you feel weak. By falling down we learn to be stronger. Through the mistakes that comes from our experiences, we are able to learn. Likewise, by knowing what fear is like we can also know how to be courageous. Know in your heart that THERE IS something else more important than fear and that is the thing that you must focus your mind on, not fear itself.
